What are dermal fillers?
As the skin ages, it gradually loses some of its collagen and fat. These are the materials that prevent the skin from becoming saggy. Thus, as we age, our skin can become wrinkled and lined.
Dermal fillers help to restore our skin to its former youthful appearance. Material is injected into the skin in areas where it needs to be plumped up again and made to look firmer.
Fillers come in different thicknesses, and in general, the thicker the product, the deeper it is injected into the dermal layer of the skin to help plump out fine to deep lines and wrinkles.
Dermal fillers tend to be broadly classified as being either non-permanent or permanent in their effect by both manufacturers and practitioners using these products.
Restylane®
Restylane® is a dermal filler that helps reduce or eliminate facial lines giving skin a more youthful appearance. When injected into the lip area, lips will be fuller, more defined and lip lines appear less noticeable.
Perlane®
Perlane® is a dermal filler that helps reduce or eliminate facial lines giving skin a more youthful appearance. When injected into the lip area, lips will be fuller, more defined and lip lines appear less noticeable.
Juvederm Injectible Gel
Juvederm is the next generation smooth gel filler, offering a natural look and feel. Its effects last six to nine months or longer. Juvederm is an excellent treatment option for superficial lines around the eyes, mouth and forehead as well as deep folds around the mouth area, lip enhancement and wrinkle correction.
Cosmoderm
Cosmodermis an innovative treatment made from human collagen. It can replenish your skin's lost collagen and restore its structure. This dermal filler, when injected below the skin's surface, will help smooth wrinkles, fill in deep furrows and folds and restore the lip border. Cosmoderm works well on fine lines. Two or three treatments per year are suggested to maintain results.
